Aithra Award:

On October 30th 2010 another mile stone was reached: Kristel Groenenboom won the Aithra Award for the most promising business woman in 2010. Aithra is a network for entrepreneurial women and aims to make the more visible in the market. Businesses that have women in management do better, so research tells us. Also on an economic level. A remark that is often heard is " we cannot find these women". It's just not true. During the Aithra gala-especially for this award- many prominent business women were present. Besides this, the Aithra foundation stands for women with courage, vision, ambition and social involvement.  Kristel won this award because she took over the business at such a young age. The jury explained that Kristel's passion doesn't have to do with age.

Elisa Carter presented the award. She was named the first black, female top manager in The Netherlands in 2005. A woman who came to the Netherlands with nothing, being a refugee. She now manages thousands of employees. She is a member of the Erasmus MC hospital board of directors where she has a portfolio containing several billions of Euros. At the award ceremony, Elisa said she recognized herself in Kristel. It doesn't matter what your background is, perseverance and ambition will get you a long way. An important part of winning this award has to do with the container industry being a man's world. We say it has nothing to do with gender. Kristel herself sees advantages in being a woman in this business. " I only have to introduce myself once". The colleague-competitors are all men in dark blue or grey suits: they look alike and are difficult to keep apart. Kristel stands out, at the next meeting they all remember her.
